Our Guests’ stories & testimonials

Emily

Emily came on our Dahab Beginner Freediving retreat with no previous experience, just a curiosity to learn after watching our videos.

Across her three day AIDA-2 course, she learnt frenzel equalisation and was able to dive to 17m! Her quick progression was helped by our coaching, helping to improve her technique and efficiency. This then carried on into her fun dives, where she explored the reef at Ras Mohammed National Park.

She’s left Egypt with a new-found obsession, can’t wait to join our next retreat and recruit her fiancé as her trained buddy.

Alex & Brad

Alex and Brad, a couple from the UK came to our Dahab Beginner Freediver Retreat, with some self taught experience. It took Alex some time to convince Brad to sign up, after he had some negative freediving experiences when he was younger. But, he was so pleased he came, and was able to rediscover his love for it again! He’s already thinking about what new gear he can buy, and where he can freedive back home in the UK.

We paid particular attention to teaching them buddying, so they are confident they can look out for one another safely on their future freedives together.

Alex and Brad loved having everything organised for them on the trip, as they usually do their own DIY adventures. But this week, they could just relax and go with the flow. Both of them managed to comfortably dive to 16m deep and pass AIDA 2.

Camilla

Experienced freediver Camilla joined our Azores Ocean Exploration trip to train and explore the waters of the Azores, a bucketlist destination for her. She managed a few 40m dives with ease, and even spotted a curious octopus on our fun dives. As a photographer, Camilla also captured some beautiful scenery and moments during our trip. It was so special to have her join us, and all she brought to the group.

What our guests said

Xu, on what made it special

“Wonderful people with so much love in your hearts, who really bring the best out of us. I can’t thank you enough for this wonderful week. I am not a group person normally but I felt so comfortable and at ease within this group. The love you have for freediving, for each other, for the island, for the ocean and for life is really palpable, and that’s what made this retreat special.”

Douglas, on connection

“I really appreciate everyone in this group. We were diverse nationally, and it was definitely the highlight for me to spend time with everyone, getting to know one another and sharing in everyone’s excitement, achievements and the passion for freediving we all share. I enjoyed every moment. It just went by too quickly.”

Lucy, on her favourite memory

“It’s impossible to choose. I had several favourite moments each day. The dives, the dolphins, the hike… Top of the list are the PB dive and the dolphins we saw from the sailboat. Looking back now, the main thing that stays with me is the love for this group of people, all the laughs we shared (and a few tears at the end), the meals together, the boat rides, yoga in the morning and music in the evening. Just the whole vibe and having all the adventures together.”
