Retreat Details
Join us in the bohemian town of Dahab (known as the capital of freediving) become a qualified freediver, and connect with new friends over a shared love for the water.
We’ll teach you the AIDA 2 freediving course, where you can dive up to 20m deep, the course includes theory, pool, safety and open water sessions. You’ll dive with us in small groups of maximum 3 students to one instructor. We teach the course in a way that focuses on fun and flow, not pressure to achieve.
The last two full days of the retreat, we head to Ras Mohammed national park. Camping in our cosy canvas tents, just steps from the shoreline where an incredible reef is waiting to be discovered. This part of the trip is about relaxing, hanging out and enjoying putting what you’ve learnt into practice, to discover marine life, freediving on the reef.
-
Freediving is diving underwater on one held breath. Its a sport that requires you to be calm, relaxed and trust your body to do what it’s naturally capable of.
Many people describe freediving as complete calmness, meditation or feeling like the ocean becomes their playground.
One of the special things about it is that you don’t need to be an athlete; strong, fast or fearless to give it a go. You just need to learn the correct techniques - that’s what we teach. -
Over three days you'll complete the AIDA 2 freediving course (usually valued at £350 and included in your retreat). You'll learn to dive safely, between 12-20m, understand your body, and build proper technique from the start. We introduce things gradually across the week, so there's no rush.
This is a beginner course, no prior experience required. You’ll learn:Line diving technique and how to descend efficiently
Equalisation technique
Breath hold methods and tips, hold your breath for 2 minutes +
Nervous system tools to stay calm underwater
How to train your breath and body
How to duck dive and explore marine life safely in a natural setting
Safety and rescue procedures, so you can always dive safe with a qualifed buddy
We dive from the Lighthouse in Dahab, just a short swim from shore.
-
Midweek, after the course we head to Ras Mohammed National Park, widely considered one of the most spectacular marine reserves in the world, home to over 200 species of coral and around 1,000 species of fish.
2 days | 1 night at Ras Mohammed
We sleep at a beachfront desert camp in comfy canvas tents under a clear starry sky, sit around the campfire at night, wake up to the sunrise and snorkel over coral gardens filled with fish, rays, turtles and barracuda.
This part of the trip is about slowing down and disconnecting: reading on the beach, exploring the mountains at sunset, swimming at sunrise, stargazing by the campfire. We'll offer optional morning Qi Gong, stretching and breath-work sessions, and creative workshops if you feel like joining. All meals and water are included at camp.
-
Alongside the freediving, the week is built around shared experience. We eat local meals together, hike into the mountains at sunset, yoga, snorkel and explore, and disconnect from our busy lives. You’ll also have pockets of free time to do as you choose.
We pride ourselves on creating a social, inclusive atmosphere, and people leave our retreats with new friends for life.
-

Our passion for freedving, shines through in our inclusive, positive and fun approach to teaching. We’re not
exclusive, elitist or about pushing too far. Instead we focus on nervous system state, regulation, psychology and safety in our sessions, it should be fun and not a struggle!
Our AIDA courses follow the usual format, but we try to weave more fun and play into the learning. Think pool games, underwater group photos and things that make it more than just learning the course material.
We want to help people discover the best version of themselves and experience beautiful moments that are once in a lifetime, we’d love you to be one of them. -
Accomodation is included. You'll stay in a peaceful studio in Dahab.
Our studios vary in size and layout, but they’re all high quality, comfortable rooms with AC and hot water. Some have twin beds and some have doubles, so we allocate them first come first served, based on whether guests are couples, friends or solo travellers, and on gender. You’ll never be placed in a room with someone of the opposite gender unless you’ve booked with them.
Everything is within walking distance. Dahab is a relaxed, safe place with an outdoorsy, alternative feel: desert, mountains and sea in one.
About your hosts
Immy & Joe, Flow State Freediving
Certified AIDA freediving instructors and retreat facilitators
We teach freediving because we believe it's one of the best ways to explore the ocean. We’re not about chasing depth and numbers, and more focused on that flow state feeling you can experience when you’re at one with the water and yourself.
We’ve spent a lot of time in Dahab, and consider it our second home, bringing people here, to show our favourite spots is really special to us, especially as Dahab is also where we completed our Instructor course. It’s the perfect spot for beginners, and we can’t wait to introduce you to the wondrous underwater world of the Red Sea - prepare to have your mind blown!
Where you’ll stay
Our studios vary in size and layout, but they’re all high quality, comfortable rooms. Some have twin beds and some have doubles, so we allocate them first come first served and based on the type of booking, gender and whether that’s couples, friends or solo travellers. You won't share with the opposite gender if you didn't book with that guest.
They’re located in a peaceful spot, walking distance from Dahab town. Rooms have AC, hot water and breakfast supplies provided each morning.
“Accommodation was amazing, so beautiful, felt premium and comfortable, well supplied and it felt very safe. Breakfast was SPOT ON! Exactly what you need and more, this was great! I loved that so much was included, dinner and breakfast wise, as this made it feel like a proper organised trip rather than just a holiday. “

Retreat Guests Testimonials
Loved the course. The highlight was definitely the national park, thought that was EPIC. Was also amazing getting through the ear issues I had.
Seb, Red Sea Retreat Guest
“Your teaching styles were great. You explained the theory well and with plenty of practical examples to explain the more technical theories. You both showed a great level of care to everyone on the course and one thing that stood out to me was the willingness to learn how people like to learn and adapting to each person.”
Emily, Red Sea Retreat Guest
“The course was great, you both were fantastic as instructors and everyone clearly felt safe in the water and had a good time.”

The Red Sea coast, where we're based, is well-established as a tourist destination and has been for decades. Sharm el Sheikh and Dahab are well-visited areas. We wouldn't run trips here if we had concerns, and the area is not affected by the war. That said, we always recommend taking out comprehensive travel insurance at booking.
-
Our trips and depostis are non-refundable, no matter the circumstances. We recommend you purchase comprehensive travel insurance at the time of booking.
